The last day of June sees you all crossing the West River into the northern wilderness. All of you have stocked up with supplies and rations. McTavish's wagon is groaning under the weight...especially that of the 20 kegs of good halfling ale that he is bringing with him.
The weather is hot and humid...but overcast.
For the first hour or so you travel through a mixture of woodlands and open grass...then the trees thicken and you enter the Canabar Forest.
The Great Western Road, which, in the halfling lands was a busy thoroughfare, is much less used, now. Blades of grass poke up between the ancient cobblestones, and the road is at best poorly maintained. Still, the original builders of the road intended it to last through the ages, and you make good time. By midmorning the road is paralleling the Canabar River as it flows northeast. This is a large river, about a half a mile wide and navigable.
The rest of the day's journey passes without incident. That night you camp in the forest.
Aldarin prepares a meal of the food he brought with him and takes out a flask of wine as he sets by the fire.
Raz unpacks a minimum of his things only taking out a blanket and a few rations. Once camp is made he will then take some time to go over his spell book and do whatever mental exercises that mages do.
"This really sounds like fun. I think I will turn in so as to be ready for what ever we encounter."
With that Kelar heads for his tent and gets ready for sleep.
Lookign around the campsite, Pillar seems preoccupied "Be on your guard, I feel a strangeness in the air. Tonight may have some unexpected surprises, we have been to long without a fight".
Britan says, "I agree it has been a long time sence our last encounter with evil."
Aldarin suggests, "We should establish some type of watch now they we are in the wild lands. Do any of the magic wielders have any type of spell to alert us as to approaching danger while we sleep?"
Looking around, he says. "So what is the watch schedule going to be if no one has any spells to alert us during the night?"
He draws his sword and gets some oil and a rag and begins to clean and polish it and other weapons and armor that he can get to.
Pillar looks around and sits near the fire looking out into the darkness, he seems content to sit there all night.
