After midnight, though, the winds pick up to gale force and a blizzard blows down out of the mountains. By morning it has blown itself out, but another foot of snow has fallen and it is bitterly cold (-30F).

You put on your snow shoes and press on.

You make slow progress all day. Leslie is directing you towards a snowy mountain pass.
