The EARTH story - August 16, 1372

August 16th dawns a cold and overcast day in the mountains. Exiting Kelar's tent, outside you find the temperature to be around -36F, and it gets no warmer as the day progresses.

Wearing your snowshoes now, you make slow progress northwards. Ayazin's mule does not do well in the snow. By noon you have crested the top of the pass. Before you spreads a broad, treeless plateau of snow and screes, surrounded by glaciated peaks. Leslie leads you northwest across this plain. As evening approaches the snow turns to ice under your feet, and you begin to traverse a large glacier. As evening comes on you again pitch Kelar's tent and retreat inside.
