The EARTH story - August 29, 1372

The next morning, soon after setting out, you come upon a grisly sight. A giant wolverine sits at the side of the road eating the remains of a traveller that it apparently killed during the night. It beats a hasty retreat into the woods as you approach.

The body appears to have been a man, and going by his dress a mage. Strange that he should be travelling alone.

Searching the body, you find three scrolls.

After burying the body, you continue on your way.

You spend the day walking roughly north-northeast.

Unlike many areas in this region, this one has felt the hand of man to a greater extent. The Long Valley Road was once a major trading artery joining the northern kingdoms centred around Slave Lake with the southern ones such as Skilii and the Wizard's Valley. With the cooling climate and the advancing ice sheet, though, the lands turned less hospitable and the population declined. When Urguth was taken over by orcs and other humanoids, the remaining free people either fled or were enslaved. Now, all that remains of the past prosperity is the Road itself, and the occasional crumbling ruin.

The fine summer weather continues to hold, though, and you are making good progress. Jo-owrn is pleased.
