The EARTH story - Sunsebb 26, 583

Continuing your exploration of this level, you head south from the cave with the trap door to the 4-way intersection and go east. 50' past the intersection, the passage forks three ways: northeast, southeast and east. In each direction the passages run for about 20', ending at doors. The east and northeast doors face east; the southeast door faces south.

You head southeast to the south-facing door.

Gamvik listens at it, and after a moment reports that he hears crude grunting and mooing sounds.

"Yeah, yeah, Gamvik, that's just Farad. What do you REALLY hear?" Beth says.

Gamvik makes the sign of the gag.

Raz looks to the others, saying only, "I'm ready."

Humphrey comments, "Mooing sounds you say? It could be steak for supper tonight".

"Sure I am ready also, but who would want to put a cow down here?"

Britan readies his shield and sword for the worst.

Farad shrugs. "More likely minotaurs, but if you want to eat them that's your business."

Ayazin says, "Minotaurs, eh? Well, naturally, we have to kill them."

Farad smiles. "Of course!" and opens the door, sword ready.

Britan draws his sword and readies his shield and prepares to charge in after Farad.

"Let's do it boys and girls."

Ayazin draws his scimitar and prepares to mindblast the first minotaur(s) he sees. He'll order the wolf to attack as well.

You bash the door open with ease. Beyond is a roughly squared off cave (~40' square). In here are two minotaurs, having a friendly head-butting contest.

Ayazin unleashes his mind blast, with no obvious effects. The wolf rushes in.

Of course, when the minotaurs catch sight of you, they decide to set their fun and games aside for the moment.

"Moo!" says one of them, as he charges you.

"Baaaa!" says the other.

The first one stops, and cuffs the other.

"'Baaaa'?? You dumb shit! Show some pride in your bovine heritage!"

"But I ain't proud to be a bovine! I wants to be a sheep!" says the other, pouting. "I's suffering from species dysphoria!"

"You're gonna be dead in a minute unless you gets a hold of yourself an' - OWWW!" the first minotaur exclaims, as Farad pokes him with his longsword. "Why you - "

The argument is forgotten as the battle begins. The first minotaur bites Farad for 4 hit points.

Ayazin's wolf attacks a minotaur, but misses.

Britan, meanwhile, has attacked the other minotaur, and landed a solid blow. He is chopped in turn by the monster's enormous halberd for 5 hit points, then butted for 5 more.

Humphrey is at Farad's side, and polishes off the first minotaur with a single thrust of his glowing shortsword.

Britan quickly follows up with another blow to the last one, opening a long gash across his belly. His next swing kills it.

Searching the cave, you find 4 gems (425gp ea.).

Moving along, you next head down the east passage, and open the door at the end after Gamvik turns up negative.

Beyond is another cave, odd-shaped, this time. In here is a purple worm.

You seem to have surprised it.

"Damn and me without my fishing pole!" laments Britan.

"At least this place has gotten a litte more exciting," Kelar says with a grin.

Ayazin hangs back with scimitar drawn and readies a Sweet Water potion for anyone who happens to get poisoned by the worm's sting.

Aldarin speaks a few arcane words, extending a hand out toward the worm and sending a bolt of elctricity into it.

The bolt hurts the worm slightly.

Beth also applies lightning.

The worm writhes out of the direct path of Beth's bolt, and so is only slightly hurt by it.

Farad watches the lightning bolts streak by and sighs. "Waste of spells. You fools never remember anything. Just because its big doesn't mean its hard to kill. We only need fear the intelligent monsters."

Farad then mindblasts it.

The worm's head explodes, killing it.

Beth shakes her head and says, "Yeah, but what fun is just looking at it and thinking nasty thoughts? Sometimes a little fireworks is exciting! And we so rarely get so big a target...."

Searching the cave and the remains, you find nothing of interest or value.

Moving quickly on, you next open the door at the end of the short northeast passage. This door leads you into another irregularily shaped cave, which is barren. Searching the place turns nothing nothing but a holy symbol of Gorm.

It looks as if you have completed exploring this level.

Sharone picks up the holy symbol, wrapping it carefully she puts it in her back pack. " I'll return this to someone who will treat it with the care it deserves."

Farad looks about. "Lets rest a day so we can regain our spells, and head down to the next level."

You head back upstairs to the doppelganger room, then, and rest for the balance of the day.
