Five days pass, before you land in Avernus again. You arrive at the same location as previously; the Volvo sits nearby, already starting to rust into something resembling a Saab.
The outhouse is there, too.
Occa says, "Maybe this time, we should go to that other tower instead. What do you think? Looks like Raz won't be his home since Lord Billian has clearly turned against him."
"I thought those were the secret police that were after us. I didn't realize they worked for Lord Billian."
"Ruth said that Billian was ready to move on Raz."
"Billian moves on Raz... but BOPS was outta bop us," says Gonzo, reflecting.
Robert shakes his head.
"Darian is right, Occa-san. It was BOPS who moved against us, not Billian against Razamataz. Ruth said that it seemed like Razamataz had deserted Billian."
Occa marches over toward the outhouse.
The outhouse is as it was before.
Occa casts unseen servant and has it open the doorway to the castle wall that we decided to explore later.
The door opens, and you behold the scene.
It is the same as previously except that it is a starry night. You recognise the familiar constellations of Earth's sky, though perhaps shifted a little south of where you last observed them in Sandas.
You are looking across the parapet of a tower. Crenelated battlements run about its periphery. It overlooks a valley through which a river flows. The hills are clad in leafy green trees. The village down in the valley is in darkness, which leads you to suspect that the hour is late.
Looking back, the eye sees a blank curving wall of stonework, about 10' high. He runs the eye around, and discovers that the wall forms a circle (actually a cylinder) about 10' in diameter. There is a wooden door on the opposite side. It is painted green, and it is closed. Sending the eye over the top, he sees a peaked slate roof.
Viewing the scene from around the perimeter of the tower, Occa sees that it is constructed on a wooded hillside. The tower is perhaps 100' high, narrowing towards the top. However, the tower is not straight up and down, but rather angles off in one direction for a storey or two, then another for a few more, and then a third for another. He wonders how it stays upright. Going by the stonework, it is clearly quite old.
He sees a path winding off through the trees from the base of the tower, perhaps leading down to the village.
There is another green door at the base of the tower.
There is a small outbuilding perhaps 50' from the tower. It is also of stone, and looks like a small barn or stable.
Occa relays this information to the rest of you.
Seeing that the way is clear for the moment, you step through the portal, and find yourselves on the parapet. The air is cool and moist, and definitely smells like Earth.
Orlon, who is in tune with such things, announces that you are indeed back on the Prime Material Plane, as he feels that he can contact his deities again.
"If that is the case, why don't we get Lo wished or resurrected?" Robert asks, "We could use the monster fodder. Heck, we could go back to Sandas if we wanted, I'll bet."
"In the morning, let's give the tower a quick once over. If that doesn't help us any, then I can cast commune to see what we should do," Orlon remarks.
Occa says, "Let's camp out. I will wish Lo back in the morning and then we can explore this place. It might make a nice summer home."
Occa casts Mordenkainen's Magnificent Mansion and studies wish. Then he wishes Lo back.
