June 18, 1372

The weather continues benign on the 18th. Soon after setting out you leave the Diamondmere behind and begin your descent down the north side of the Secret Pass and into Milkland. At midmorning you are distracted by a ruckus off to the side of the road: it is a half a dozen fire beetles tearing a rotted tree trunk apart in search of tasties. They ignore you, so you ride on.

As afternoon draws to a close you leave the mountains behind and enter the valley of the West River. The south side of the valley is occupied by a large number of halflings, and they call their land Milkland. Soon after the forest ends, and you enter a region of fields and pastures. Small farms - delved into the sides of the rolling hills - dot the landscape, and you see more people about. They are all halflings, and the nod politely as you pass.

At last you come to the hamlet of Globola (population 40) and opt to stay at the inn there (the Cow And Thistle) for the night. Globola is a quiet little place, located at a fork in the road. Outside the inn is a signpost -

North: To Westmarish.
Southeast: To Castle Graywatch and Bilboburgh.
Southwest: To Diamondmere and Valam.

The Cow And Thistle is a well run place, and you eat and drink well before retiring to clean, quiet rooms.
