On April 9th the temperature warms up rapidly, reaching 59F by midafternoon. The snow starts to melt, and the road turns a bit muddy, though the ancient cobblestones help keep the effects of the mud to a minimum. You make good time today, at least until late afternoon. The Mountains of Nlad to the south are growing closer, as the road continues to run straight southeast.
Suddenly Callie the ranger gives a cry of alarm, as four apparently suicidally inclined goblins rush out of the bushes to attack your large party!
"Today is a good day to die!" they shout in their best Klingon imitation voices, as they close on you.
Logan stands back and resolves to learn how to use a crossbow once they get to the next town. He unsheathes his blade in case one of the goblins gets brave enough to approach him.
Dor rapidly dismounts. Moving towards the closest goblin he prepares his sword and shield.
"Evil deserves to die," he declares.
"Then you will die too!" replies a goblin.
"Uhh, I don't think that makes any sense," Dor replies while attempting to behead the speaker.
"What I mean is that you are evil!"
The tan-skinned elf sheathes his blade.
"What are you talking about?" he asks as he stands back. "My name is Logan Obi Wan, and no one here is evil unless you call saving the world from the legions of hell evil?"
"All elves are evil!" says another goblin.
"Says who?" Logan asks incredibly, "I may not be an angel, but I am certainly not evil."
"Yes you are."
"You psychopathic little buggers, I am not evil. I save damsels in distress, I am trekking across this mudball to make sure EVIL and malicious rules don't enslave or destroy this world, so don't give me any crap about me being evil," Logan retorts.
"I am not evil," Dor replies angrily, as well. "Just because I haven't been to Tyr's temple in a while, doesn't mean I'm evil. But I'm pretty sure that your being a goblin means you're evil."
"Tyr!!! That evil goddess! May Maglubiyet take you to his halls and teach you some goodness!"
"You morons, Tyr is a GOD of Justice, not evil. Also he is male, not a goddess. Where the hell do you people get your theological training? Minions R Us?" Logan explains, almost stunned by the words of the goblins.
"Boy or girl, Tyr is known to goblinkind as among the most evil of deities!"
"Well, as usual, your clergy are feeding you the wrong information. Tyr stands for justice and equality. So, back down and we can talk like civilized people. Is it right and good to surprise people on the road and attack them? No, and that is what you have done, so if you are as good as you say, stop fighting and we can talk." Logan replies, finding this conversation amazingly odd.
While this allegedly intellectual discussion has been going on, Dor, Vanadil, Birch and Windul have been trying to spar with the goblins without much success. Fortunately, the goblins have not had much luck, either.
Finally Vanadil knocks off her opponent as Birch is nailed for 2 hit points. Windul kills a second goblin, and Vastelle makes short work of hers.
Dor finally connects with his goblin and sends him to the promised land, and Birch finishes his off.
Searching them for treasure, you find 52sp.
You mount up and ride on, as you ponder the strange ethos of the goblins.
That night you camp on the prairie, and continue following the Amlad Road southeast in the morning. It is an uneventful day, as is the next. The weather is warm and pleasant for travel.
