April 24, 1372

April 23rd sees the end of the cold snap at last. The temperature climbs to 55F by midafternoon and the snow starts to melt.

You set out from New Golgar soon after dawn, heading south down the Saltar Road. Looking back, you can make out a group of figures some distance behind you: Umboth's group. For the morning and the first part of the afternoon you are traversing the Plains of Amad: a relatively flat prairie, but as afternoon wears on you see more and more trees. As midafternoon approaches you come to an intersection with another road. As usual there is a signpost -

The Saltar Road: North: To Golgar, Mississippi Bridge and Calamlad.
South: To Bridgewater, South Nolthen and Guardian Ford.

Northeast: To The Amlad Road and Corbol.
Southwest: To Amlad and Nlad.

Soon after crossing this intersection the trees close in completely and you enter the Southern Forest: a thick deciduous woodland.

That night you camp in the woods near the road, and nothing eats you.
