Rage surfaces again, with another 14 magic missile scrolls (she messed up on the other five).
In the meantime, more news of the wars has come to End.
The dwarves did indeed take Yorkk on April 19th. Travellers out of Nolthen say that Imrimil is rushing troops east, but his armies seem to be thinly spread.
Mestom's invasion of Nlad has stalled. Ormund's armies won a major battle south of the city of Heervand, stopping the enemy army. However, they do seem to be able to force them into retreat.
You have seen many ships sailing south down the Mississippi bound for the open sea, like the ones which passed you on your journey south.
You set out for Tybol on June 4th, 1372. It is a hot, humid day. Apparently there is a tropical storm moving off the coast, and it is sending occasional heavy showers into the area behind a driving wind. Not the best day for travelling but you are eager to be on your way.
You follow the Imperial Road east-northeast out of End. There are few other travellers on the road today, no doubt because of the weather. The road is in pretty good condition as you follow it trough the Mississippi Forest.
At midafternoon the forest thins and becomes a more open woodland. Soon after that you come to a guard post: a small tower of stone. Several soldiers come out and question you as to your origin and destination. They wear the uniforms of Arble Province: the fief of Clarvis. They send you on your way after a few questions, assuming that you are mercenaries.
You enter the Empire of Saltar.
The first thing you notice is that the Imperial Road is better maintained here, and you make better time. Every dozen miles or so you pass a coach house inn, where food, drink, accommodation and fresh mounts are available. You no longer have to sleep in the woods if you do not want to. Rooms run around 18sp per night, which includes your meals.
