October 3, 1372
October
3, 1372 dawns overcast but pleasantly mild. Kadlian's elven followers
go out into the woods with the treants to frolic about, while Trinity -
looking like Jimmy Durante in drag - memorises spells.
At last she is ready.
Trinity casts remove curse on Niko's sailor hat.
Nothing appears to happen.
Trinity tries to remove Niko's hat.
Niko struggles against his bonds. "Hey, crazy lady! You stop trying to take Niko's hat. Niko's hat make Niko smart. Niko smart!"
It does not come off.
"The ring, Trinity?"
Kadlian takes out his sinclair dagger. "I think Dor's suggestion of
removing his finger with the rings is a passable solution. He
should be able to still use a sword."
Kadlian pauses. "Does anyone have a ring of regeneration? That way his finger would grow back without the rings."
Trinity tries the other items that Niko is wearing to see if anything comes off.
None of them come off.
"Not a good idea," says Trinity, regarding Kadlian's suggestion to
amputate Niko's offending members. "I will not brook that. We'll have
to get someone more powerful to remove the curse."
Kadlian shrugs and puts away the dagger. "Very well. Back to Sandas, then."
"Perhaps just a few of us? The rest can wait here. We either come back with Niko or we leave him there to get fixed."
"I don't suppose one of your spells could just deliver Niko to Occa's
residence alone - we could pin a note to his tunic explaining what must
be done?" Galil remarks, obviously impatient with yet another delay.
"Much as one would send a package to someone in a distant city?"
Everyone like this idea.
Kadlian quickly pens a note on some extra map parchment.
"To whomever read this:
Niko is currently wearing three cursed items: a hat and two rings.
From what we can gather, one of the rings is a cursed ring of spell
turning. We have been unable to remove these items nor has a remove
curse worked. The hat is making him stupid and I recommend not
releasing him until all items are removed. He is dangerous to himself
and others as he is now.
Thank you,
- Kadlian"
Kadlian pins the note on Niko. "Okay, Trinity, whenever you are ready."
She speaks a word of power as she touches the elf, and he suddenly disappears.
"Right then. Shall we head back in?"
Trinity, you note, has used up a number of spells already today.
"Trinity, what do you want to do?"
"Since I'm out of teleportation spells, we'd have to hoof it or wait
till tomorrow," says the mage. "I'm in favor of waiting till tomorrow."
"Or later today, perhaps? I do not mind walking to the tower, but I
would like you to have the teleportation spell if we need to get out of
there quickly."
"Well then we wait till I memorize the spells, eh. And that will take till tomorrow," says Trinity.
Kadlian sighs. "Okay."
"Blame Niko, and his desire to keep trying things on," says Trinity. "That boy needs to be on a short leash."
"Are you volunteering?"
"Sure. I'll do it, unless there is someone else who might do the job better," replies Trinity.
On that note you break up, spending the rest of the day taking your
leisure...except for Trinity, who has to rest and relearn spells.
