October 26th is cooler and overcast. You continue on your way, following the coast road. You are descending into a shallow, marshy valley through which a small river flows down to the sea. A bridge carries the road over the river, and it continues on north.
Suddenly, Luann stops by the edge of a stagnant mere, that the road passes by, and points to it.
"What's that?" she says.
Looking, you all see the glint of metal at the bottom of the pool. Coins, they would appear to be...lots of them.
"Does this happen often ?" Al asks with a smile.
"Not often enough," says Tracey.
"A trap I would presume," He says as he looks around with his scimitar out.
"Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. Such variety in the world of chaos," Orlon smiles at Al.
"Tis true, brother Orlon, but always good to be prepared." He says as he tips his scimitar to the cleric of Thor.
"Wait here," Who Knows tells the others as he steps over to jump into the water to check out the metal glint.
"Oops," Who Knows shouts out, stopping himself before he jumps in. He remembers that he can't swim too good.
"Ok, who is the volunteer to take a swim ?" Al asks, "I am unable, because I would sink like a lead weight. I will guard here in case of attack on the surface." He says, looking around again for any possible bandits or saboteurs.
Vardui looks around at the mages.
"Anyone got an unseen servant handy?"
No one seems to have one, and there do not seem to be any swimmers in the group,so you continue on your merry way.
A short time later you cross the bridge that you saw earlier spanning the small river. The road then starts slowly climbing out of the shallow, marshy valley. As you leave the last of the swamp behind, you come to an intersection. A road heads off to the east, while this one continues north. You pause and read the signpost -
North: To Eagle Cliff and the Victoria Peninsula.
East: To The Elven Coast Road and Tarn Olath.
South: To Koltalla and Drugger's Rush.
"North it is," says your alleged elven guide, after muttering eenie-meenie-minee... under his breath.
The rest of the day passes uneventfully, and you camp that night on another cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
