The EARTH story - Sunsebb 13, 583

After a pleasantly cool night - fine for sleeping - you awaken to find that it has become overcast, and that a warm, dry wind is blowing out of the east.

During this time of travel, Ayazin begins each day by casting Predict Weather, and if any storms are indicated, he of course lets the rest of the party know.

He is also teaching his hawk its first trick, to fly up, circle the area, and return.

Other than that, he keeps a keen eye on the landscape to find differences between Oerth and Earth for future reference.

You set out as soon as you are ready, and spend the day riding. You make good time and cover a lot of ground. The road that you have followed thus far continues to hug the coastline as both bear roughly east-southeast until shortly before noon...when both begin to curve more to the south.

At the point where the road is facing almost due south you come to a wide, shallow river, flowing down out of the hills of the Abbor Alz to the east. The road forks, here: one branch follows the north bank of the river inland, while the other runs down to a ford in the river and continues on the other side.

You cross the river without any difficulty, and pause on the far side to replenish your water supply. The lands around you are looking increasingly arid, and by this time the temperature is pushing 100F...unusual for this time of year, Malbar tells you, but not unheard of.

On the south side of the river the road resumes its trek, paralleling the shore of Woolly Bay, now little more than a faint track though the thinning scrubland. You are now heading south-southwest.

You camp near the road again tonight. The temperature drops to only 71F.

Nothing bothers you.
