However, nothing happens. You remain in the shop. Outside, it looks to be another hot day in Casablanca. The temperature is already well over 70F, under partly cloudy skies.
Occa says, "The astral may not be far enough. I shall try limbo tomorrow and then Sandas."
You spend another day relaxing. Nobody bothers you in the shop.
"You know," Emm suggests, "the shopkeeper's widow, if any, may stop by to look for him. Or one of his friends. If we intend to buy this store and make it a base of operations, then perhaps we should find the widow or other inheritor, explain that her husband is dead through his foolishness, and offer to buy the place."
That evening, while the group is bedding down for the night and Darian is snuggled up next to Jesse, he speaks to the group. "Some of you wondered about the 'other abilities' that I talked about a few days ago. I'm psionic. I have the ability to become invisible, to heal people, to walk on water and to absorb spell energy. That's what I did with that arch-mage's spell. He caught me by suprise, but I usually have that ability active, just in case."
"I do have my limitations, though. I can't absorb fireballs terribly effectively unless I'm real close to the caster. And there's a downside. I tend to attract psionic foes. And they always seem to be more powerful..."
Later, Niko unloads two short swords, two daggers and a ring next to Darian. "Do ya have Identify memorized? Or shoulds we wait till we gets to Sandas?"
Darian sighs. "No, I was expecting the trip to the astral plane and I didn't want to be missing any combat spells. Perhaps we should wait until Sandas. Tell you what... If Occa can't teleport us out tomorrow morning, I'll spend the day memorizing the identify spells, casting them and then resting."
"Sounds good to me."
Regardless, Niko casts his last Detect Invisibility to see if there are any magic runes on the items.
