April 1st dawns much warmer but overcast and blustery. There is 3" of snow on the ground. Returning to the Southern Road, you make good time in your northward trek today. By nightfall you have left the Mountains of Nlad far behind, and are in the middle of a land of farms, fields and pastures. A passing hobbit on the road advises you that there is a good in just a few miles ahead, so instead of camping in a field you press on.
At last you come to a four-way intersection. Here the Southern Road ends. Another Great Road runs east-west, while a lesser road continues north. There is a signpost here -
The Great West Road: East: To Hobbitown, North End, Derextar.
West: To Bilboburgh, Hambol Hollow, Westmarish.
The Southern Road: South: to Strabath, Valleymouth, Grell Inn.
North: To Greenwood, Harfoot Hollow.
There is also an inn here, where you gladly stop for the night. These being the halfling lands, you are assured of an excellent meal, huge helpings, and lots of good beer. You are not disappointed, and after a pleasant evening in the common room drinking some of the most potent beer that you have ever tasted, retire for the night to clean, warm rooms.
