April 8th dawns overcast again, still cold, but at least it is not precipitating anything.
"Maybe we should see if there has been any trouble in this area," Dor suggests. "You know, some orcs or witches or such causing havoc and misery for the poor people of the area. It would give us a chance to whack some evil folk," he finishes with a grin.
An evening in the common room updated you with the local news. Things have been quiet around Calamlad lately, but there have been several battles fought between the troops of Amlad and marauding bands of orcs and goblins trying to move down from the north and northwest. These conflicts have taken place long the northern borders of the land...a fair distance from here.
Also, you hear rumours an old fortress being occupied by evil monsters, perhaps a week east of here. The fort in question lies on the western slopes of the Galdan Hills, just outside of the border of Amlad. From there, monsters are making incursions into the kingdom, stealing horses and cattle.
To travel north would take you far out of your way. However, you are eastward bound already...
"Could be worth looking into," says Callie.
"The fortress sounds interesting to me, you never know, we could get lucky and our artifact of choice could be there!" Logan says with a smile as he has his arm around Edelle's midsection.
"I'd love to get it while Kad and the rest of them farting around in the hells," grins Edelle, "The artifact, that is."
Dor's eyes gleam.
"Battle," is his one word reply.
With that issue laid to rest, you set out.
The day's ride is uneventful, as you are now crossing the rather featureless Plains of Amlad, bearing southeast.
